Audi has revealed its new e-tron Sportback concept at the Shanghai Auto Show. The all-wheel drive, all-electric car is powered by three motors delivering up to 370 kW - for a 0-62mph time of just 4.5 seconds an a top speed of around 130mph. Audi claims a driving range of over 310 miles for the e-tron Sportback, which isset to enter series production in 2019.

Bentley has revealed the all-electric EXP 12 Speed 6e concept. The open-top sports car previews the luxury brand’s electric car strategy and features a new, advanced powertrain which includes rapid inductive charging. Cutting-edge technology and fine materials combine inside the luxurious cabin with plenty of leather and a handmade cut-away steering wheel which comes with an instant boost button on top. Bentley’s electric car roll-out kicks off with a hybrid Bentayga in 2018.

VIDEO: Hyundai shows new FE Fuel Cell Concept in Geneva
Unveiled in Geneva the FE Fuel Cell Concept previews Hyundai’s next generation of hydrogen-powered vehicles. The FE, which stands for ‘Future Eco’, is inspired by nature and water - the car’s only emission. Power density of the fuel stack has increased by 30% compared to the current generation system, boosting the car’s range to more than 500 miles. Hyundai says that elements of the FE Concept will influence an SUV Fuel Cell model set for launch in 2018.

VIDEO: Mercedes-AMG unveils GT Concept
Mercedes has revealed its first ever performance hybrid by AMG in Geneva. The four-door GT Concept is powered by a V8 petrol engine coupled with an electric motor for a total power output of 600 kW - which translates in to 805bhp - helping the GT accelerate from rest to 62mph in under 3 seconds. The concept has 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive as well as an F1 derived hybrid powerpack, ensuring that maximum electrical power is always on tap.

As the Paris Motor show enters its final week, we round-up some of the top concept cars making the headlines. Mercedes revealed its new Generation EQ SUV. Said to preview how future Mercedes electric cars might look, the concept is powered by two electric motors and has a range of up to 310 miles. Volkswagen unveiled its new zero-emissions I.D. concept. Based on an all-new vehicle architecture, VW says the I.D. will be the first of a new fleet when it launches in 2020, with prices comparable to those of the current Golf. The Lexus UX features rear-hinged doors, sharp lines and a coupe like roofline. The concept is expected to heavily influence a forthcoming CT200h hatchback replacement in a more SUV-like guise. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi pulled the covers off its GT-PHEV Concept. The GT stands for Ground Tourer, with the large SUV’s plug-in hybrid system using three electric motors and a 2.5-litre petrol engine for a combined hybrid cruising range of over 720 miles and CO2 emissions as low as 26g/km.

The 2016 Paris Motor Show saw the unveiling of some highly anticipated performance cars. Ferrari revealed an open top LaFerrari Aperta. The limited-edition Aperta is available with a carbon-fibre roof or soft top and retains the same spec as its stablemate - resulting in a sub 3 second dash to 62 and a top speed of over 217mph. Honda gave a world debut to a new Civic Type R Prototype. Previewing an aggressive design direction for the production Type R - with plenty of carbon fibre and large 20-inch alloys - previous prototypes have often proved to be almost identical to the road car, which is set for market launch in late 2017. Hyundai chose Paris to launch its new performance N sub-brand with the RN30. Based on the new i30, the concept features a limited-slip differential, a lower, wider stance thanks to a motorsport-inspired body kit and is powered by an upgraded 2.0-litre turbo engine. Japanese electric vehicle specialist GLM unveiled its new G4 concept, based on the Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS. Formally powered by a V8 petrol engine, this electric reworking has a total system output of over 540PS, with twin motors launching the G4 to 62 in less than 3.7 seconds.

VIDEO: Paris reveal for BMW Concept X2
BMW has revealed a new Concept X2 at the Paris Motor Show. Previewing a forthcoming production model, the compact concept has a sporty design with a stretched roofline, short overhangs and a heavily raked windscreen. Up front, huge air intakes give it a low-slung look while the tapering roof line finishes with a rear spoiler. Muscular wheel arches house large 21-inch-alloys, while grey body cladding contrasts with the Luminous Red paint finish.

Nissan has unveiled a working prototype of its futuristic BladeGlider. The zero-emissions electric car combines high-performance with a unique design, which includes a three seat configuration and rear-hinged dihedral doors. Powered by two electric motors, one in each wheel, peak Torque comes in at 707Nm for a 0-62mph of under 5 seconds. Each electric motor also features a torque vectoring systems with three settings: off, agile and drift mode.

VIDEO: Nissan creates special long distance LEAF
Nissan engineers have created a new prototype of the all-electric LEAF - with a whopping 75 percent increase in driving range. Removing the rear seats, they were able to shoehorn a 48 kWh battery in the back, double the size of the production car’s standard unit. The prototype was built to compete in a new ECOseries motorsport event, which rewards efficiency and fuel economy rather than outright speed.. and it seems the extra hours put in by the team duly paid off as they took first place.

VIDEO: Rolls-Royce reveals ultra luxurious concept
Rolls-Royce has revealed its ultra luxurious ‘Vision Next 100’ concept. As parent company BMW celebrates its centenary, the special Rolls-Royce explores what luxury mobility might look like over the next 100 years. The concept runs on an advanced suspension that allows the vehicle to almost skim across the road surface while on the luxurious inside, the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ emblem has been reimagined as Eleanor - a virtual assistant and chauffeur. The crowning feature has to its the concept’s glass canopy which lifts to allow the occupant to stand as they exit onto the projected red carpet.

VIDEO: BMW Group reveals futuristic MINI Vision concept
The BMW group has revealed a new ‘MINI Vision Next 100’ concept as part of its centenary celebrations. The Vision concept looks to a future where fully automated car-sharing will be available 24/7. Wrapped in a silver skin, like a blank canvas, the car displays different colour as well as personalised messages. On the inside, a new ‘Cooperizer’ centrally-positioned dial acts like the car’a brain, controlling personalised settings for each driver, and features an ‘Inspire Me’ button which checks downloaded user data for a perfectly personalised driving experience.

VIDEO: Ferrari California T Handling Speciale drifts in to Goodwood
Ever wondered how Goodwood owner and resident Lord March gets his breakfast? Well, to celebrate Ferrari’s attendance at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, a California T Handling Speciale - set to be showcased at this year’s Festival in late June - was driven by drift record holder Mauro Calo as he sped around the estate collecting the necessary ingredients for a good fry up. The Handling Speciale package adds a new stiffer suspension and modified gear-shifts for a sportier gear selection.. and it certainly seemed to help drift expert gather his groceries.

VIDEO: Renault Sport reveals Clio R.S. 16 concept in Monaco
Renault Sport celebrated its 40th anniversary by revealing a special Clio R.S. 16 concept car. Revealed at the Monaco Grand Prix, Renault’s F1 driver Kevin Magnussen took the Clio R.S. 16 for a spin around the famous circuit. Featuring a wider body and 19-inch wheels, the Clio concept is powered by a 275-horsepower 2.0-litre unit borrowed from the Mégane R.S. Trophy-R - along with the cooling and transmission - while the suspension was reworked to match the car’s performance characteristics.

Volvo has unveiled two new small concept cars - the 40.1 and 40.2 - both built on a new compact platform. The SUV and hatchback mark the official launch of Volvo’s new small car strategy. VIDEO: BMW ‘2002 Hommage’ harks back 50 years
BMW has revealed a beefy ‘2002 Hommage' concept car - paying tribute to the classic 2002 model first seen 50 years ago. The one-off was conceived for this years concours event at Villa d’Este and features a low slung sporting silhouette and, like the original model, is distinguished by just two single headlight units. Aerodynamic details include large spoilers front and rear, while huge moulded wheel arches house 20-inch light-alloy wheels, as well as recalling the Trans Am race variants of the classic 2002 turbo.

VIDEO: Infiniti Concept Vision GT debuts in UK
The Infiniti Concept Vision GT made its first-ever appearance outside of China, at London’s Copper Box Arena. Its UK debut came at the launch of the new Sony Playstation 4 game - GT Sport - in which the car will star alongside other manufacturers supercar concepts. The design project went much further than hand sketching and digital refinement, to include thorough calculations of technical features such as aerodynamics and engine performance. GT Sport for the PS4 is released in November.

The new Sony PlayStation game ‘GT Sport’ was launched at London’s Copper Box Arena, to a wheel-spinning, tyre smoking fan-fare. Inviting a host of manufacturers to bring their specially made extreme concept cars, the floor was packed with dream machines - all of which feature in the new console game. A few privileged gamers were among the first to try out the new software, which was sanctioned by the FIA and built from the ground up to make global online competitions a reality. Speaking of reality, stunt drivers were on-hand outside to give guests a taste of real world racing.

VIDEO: London Motor Show opens its doors
The first London Motor Show in 8 years has been officially opened by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, at Battersea Park. With all the major carmakers under one roof, UK debuts included the new MG GS - the British brand’s first SUV - as well as the McLaren 570GT and the Infiniti Q60 coupe. TVR wheeled out the great Gordon Murray to disappoint the assembled press by seemingly lining up a world debut for its new sportscar, only to reveal, well - nothing. Order books opened for the sexy new Mexican-built supercar, the VUHL 05 with prices starting from £59,000 OTR while Riversimple presented its Hydrogen car concept, the RASA, capable of travelling 300 miles with only water vapour for emissions.

Shell has revealed an ultra efficient concept car. Based on the Gordon Murray designed T.25, the lightweight three seater comes as part of a co-engineering project where body, engine design and lubricants are all created together. Shell developed a special motor oil to enhance the overall efficiency of the vehicle by minimising friction. Independent testing showed the car would deliver a 34% reduction in energy use over its lifecycle when compared to a typical city car, and use 69% less energy that a typical SUV.

VIDEO: Geneva debut for Vauxhal GT Concept
Vauxhall has revealed its vision of a future sports car with the GT Concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Described as avant-garde in design the show car, sporting sister brand Opel badges, is shorn of handles and mirrors while the doors open into the front arches, using a space-saving and patented mounting. Powered by a 1.0-litre, 145PS turbocharged engine 0-62 takes less than 8 seconds, while top speed is 134mph.
