General Motors is in talks to sell Opel to the PSA Group.
The PSA Group - which currently includes the automotive brands, Peugeot, Citroën and DS - is considering a potential acquisition which would also include Vauxhall.
Since 2012, General Motors and PSA Group have been implementing an Alliance covering, to date, three projects in Europe and 'generating substantial synergies' and within this framework, the two groups regularly examine additional expansion and cooperation possibilities, as well.
PSA Group confirms that, together with General Motors, it is now exploring numerous strategic initiatives aimed at improving its profitability and operational efficiency, including an outright purchase of Opel.
Officials are keen however, to point out that there can be no assurance that an agreement will be reached.
