Citroën teamed up with Arsenal FC stars Mikel Arteta, Héctor Bellerín, Calum Chambers and Francis Coquelin for a singles Headis tournament.
Headis, a hybrid of football and table tennis, is a popular game in Germany where Bundesliga teams, as well as the national team, have used it to hone their players’ aerial abilities.
The Airbump technology seen on the Citroën C4 Cactus was installed on a custom made Headis table, and comes as part of the French brand's role of official automotive partner to Arsenal Football Club.
The tournament saw players from the Arsenal first team play winner stays on, with Arteta, Bellerín, Chambers and Coquelin getting tips from Headis creator René Wegner along the way.
Triumphant in their respective semi-finals, Arteta and Chambers faced off in the final, with the Spaniard emerging victorious. René Wegner said; ”The Arsenal players were really good and you can see that their footballing abilities translate well into Headis. The competition was fierce, but Arteta was a deserved champion as not only did he display great technique, but also great tactical skill. I hope the players will report back on the benefits of Airbump Headis to the manager. Who knows, maybe they can convince the club to install a table permanently.”
