The Alfa Giulia has collected the Golden Steering Wheel ('Das Goldene Lenkrad') prize for Most Beautiful Car at an Awards ceremony held in Germany.
The new Alfa Romeo Giulia was voted for by readers of German publication Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag, along with a panel of 29 automotive experts including rally world champions Walter Röhrl and Sébastien Ogier, DTM champion Mattias Ekström and esteemed designer Andrea Zagato.
Designed in-house, Alfa Romeo says the Giulia is a new expression of the Italian tradition that combines ‘harmonic proportions, linearity of style, high quality materials and sophisticated aluminium, wood and leather accents’.
Awarded since the late 70s, and this year divided into seven categories, the Golden Steering Wheel was also won by Alfa Romeo in 2011 for the "I am Giulietta" advertising campaign. The Alfa Romeo 147 won in its category in 2000, while in 1995 the "Coupé" award went to the GTV.
