World Cup winner’s Ferrari 550 Maranello up for grabs
A Ferrari 550 Maranello owned footballing legend Sir Geoff Hurst MBE is to go under the hammer.
Offered for sale by Silverstone Auctions at the end of the month, the 2000 model year Ferrari has only 36,600 miles on the clock and is a rare right-hand drive example. Finished in Argento Nurburgring with black leather Daytona style seats, full carbon interior trim, along with a leather headlining and silver-painted brake calipers, the Fezza has been maintained in excellent condition, stored in a correctly heated and dehumidified facility by the vendor for the last two years.
With the football star’s name appearing on the V5C as the immediate previous owner, the car will be sold with two sets of keys, full Ferrari leather bound book pack, a fitted red Ferrari cover, a fresh MoT and comes with a full service history from both Ferrari main agents and Ferrari specialists.
Saturday July 30th marks the fiftieth anniversary of England’s famous 4-2 World Cup victory against Germany - in which Sir Geoff scored a hat-trick at Wembley - and is the same day the car will be auctioned at Silverstone race track.
Speaking ahead of the sale, Nick Whale, Silverstone Auctions managing director said, “This is a very desirable Ferrari. Front engined V12 Ferrari Grand Tourers have always been the stuff of legend since the days of the original 365 GTB/4 Daytona back in the early 1970s. With only 457 right-hand drive 550 Maranellos made, the car is highly collectible. Not only that it’s a superb drivers car, with a fantastic history, this example even more so for football aficionados.”
The car is currently being serviced by Ferrari specialists, Terry Keys Motorsport, based at Silverstone circuit. With an estimate of £120,000 to £150,000 the auction takes place at the Classic motor sport festival on 30 July.
