Skoda reveals new Kodiaq Scout
A new, robust Scout version of Skoda’s Kodiaq SUV will receive a World debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
Hinting at the Kodiaq’s off-road capabilities both visually and in terms of technology, the rugged Scout model is accentuated by silver-coloured design details including underbody protection at the front and rear (which protects brake and fuel lines as well as cables). The 19-inch alloy wheels, specially created for the Kodiaq Scout also contribute to its ‘powerful appearance’. A choice of two petrol and two diesel engines are available for the new model variant, which comes with all-wheel drive as standard on all models.
Besides the underbody protection, the Kodiaq Scout also has tinted rear window and rear side windows and silver-coloured details. The radiator grille is framed by a silver-coloured trim as are the roof rails, wing mirror housing and window trims.
With a ground clearance of 194 mm, the new model can negotiate larger bumps and has a ramp angle of 19.7 degrees; the approach and departure angles are 22.0 and 23.1 degrees due to the short overhangs.
Based on the SE trim level the new model comes with Off-Road Assist, a Rough-Road package and front and rear Park Assist. Further standard equipment includes Driving Mode Select (Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow), which can be used to control the engine, automatic transmission, power steering and air conditioning.
Petrol engines range from the 1.4 TSI with 150 PS and combined fuel consumption of 41.5 mpg and 153 g CO2/km to the 2.0 TSI 180 PS unit with a top speed of 128 mph, a 0-62 mph time of 8.0 seconds and combined fuel consumption of 38.7 mpg and 168 g CO2/km.
Diesel engines comprise of the 2.0 TDI 150 PS unit with combined fuel consumption of 53.3 mpg and 139 g CO2/km to the 2.0 TDI 190 PS powerplant which offers a top speed of 130 mph and a 0-62 mph time of 8.9 seconds. Combined fuel consumption comes in at 49.6 mpg and 150 g CO2/km.
A multifunction steering wheel, LED ambient lighting in ten colours, a Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB) with eight speakers, Alcantara-covered seats with the Kodiaq logo, door trims in the Alcantara design, steel pedals, textile floor mats and the Kodiaq logo in the front door sills round out the Scout features.
The Geneva Motor Show runs from 7-19 March 2017.
