Skoda reveals all-new Kodiaq SUV
The covers have finally come off Skoda's new Kodiaq SUV.
At 4.70 m long and with up to seven seats and the largest boot in its class, the Kodiaq is Skoda's first large SUV. The Kodiaq includes plenty of ‘Simply Clever’ features and introduces a new driver assistance systems to the brand. With a towing capacity of up to 2.5 t and Trailer Assist available, the new SUV is powered by a choice of five engines.
Two TDI and three TSI engines make up the engine range, all featuring a Stop-Start system, brake energy recovery and thermo-management system, contributing to a lower fuel consumption.
The 2.0 TDI is available in two power outputs. The first version generates 150 PS and 340 Nm. The top-of-the-range version delivers 190 PS and 400 Nm. On average, Skoda says the entry-level TDI returns 56.5 mpg and consumes 131g CO2/km. The most powerful diesel engine accelerates the Kodiaq from 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds and on to a top speed of up to 130 mph.
Two petrol engines - a 1.4 TSI engines and a 2.0 TSI - are available. The 1.4 generates up to 125 PS whilst returning 47.1 mpg and 140g CO2/km. In a more powerful guise, the 1.4-litre exerts 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque; its ACT system – Active Cylinder Technology – shuts down the second and third cylinders when the load and engine speed are low. The top-of-the-range 2.0 TSI petrol engine features a new combustion process for 'high efficiency' with power output of 180 PS, torque is 320 Nm. Depending on the engine, the transmissions range from a 6-speed manual gearbox to a DSG transmission with six or seven speeds; the latter 7-speed dual-clutch transmission making its debut in a Skoda.
Available in three trim levels – Active, Ambition and Style - the entry level and mid-range trims come equipped with 17-inch wheels as standard. 18-inch wheels are standard in the Style trim level, while polished 19-inch wheels can be added as optional extras. An all-wheel-drive system with electronic control is available for most engine variants, delivering an increase in traction, stability and driving safety – on and off-road.
