Pininfarina set to reveal Fittipaldi EF7 concept in Geneva
Former motor racing driver Emerson Fittipaldi has revealed further details of a new Pininfarina collaboration - the ‘Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Grand Turismo’.
Fittipaldi Motors and Pininfarina teamed to produce the concept which will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. Fittipaldi confirmed the body and the monocoque will be made from carbon fibre, saying: “What was important to me in creating the EF7 is that the car not only provides pure passion and adrenaline but will also be forgiving and safe for drivers of all skill levels”.
With the concept described as 'super lightweight' (weighing around 1000kgs) the carbon fibre adds a unique advantage on the track in terms of speed, as well as creating a safety capsule.
Fittipaldi also revealed that a V8 normally aspirated engine, with over 600 hp, will give a powerful but ‘progressive acceleration’. Both engine and gearbox are "Fittipaldi" single manufacturer-made and integrated, while the low design and position on the car creates a unique centre of gravity.
“Owner-drivers can expect reliability, lower maintenance cost and minimal mechanic and tech teams - which means more time and elation on the track” added Fittipaldi.
The limited edition EF7 track car is being developed in collaboration with Pininfarina and HWA (a spin-off from AMG) and will also be 'virtually' available in the Gran Turismo series, the Sony PlayStation racing franchise.
The concept will be presented on the Pininfarina stand in Geneva on March 7.
