Hyundai i10 gets a revamp
The Hyundai i10 has undergone a minor facelift for 2016.
With advanced active safety and connectivity features from the segment above, as well as modern design refinements, including the new signature Cascading front grille, the i10 sports a fresh new look.
The new front grille is characterised by its curved, flowing lines and will become the new identity for Hyundai models in the future. The new i10 is the first Hyundai on the road to display the new signature grille.
At the front, a new bumper design joins new round LED daytime running lights, positioned at the edges of the grille. At the rear, the i10 also has an ‘evolved’ bumper design with refined materials on the rear lights, a new black inlay as well as round rear fog lamps mirroring the new front design. Redesigned side mouldings with a new shape and size round off the fresh profile of the city car. On the inside, a new shade of red cloth joins a new blue and black interior colour option on all trims.
The new i10 also introduces a fresh design of 14-inch steel or alloy wheel. Enhancements in ride and handling created by a larger front bump stopper and modified steering gear ratio round off the changes.
Like its predecessor, a choice of two petrol engines will be on offer - a 1.0-litre and 1.25-litre, driving the front wheels through five-speed manual as standard or four-speed automatic gearboxes. The BlueDrive model, based on the 1.0-litre petrol variant, includes a number of features to reduce fuel consumption.
Hyundai says it has responded to customer demand for a single connectivity option, and as such the latest connectivity features are all integrated into a new seven-inch touch screen navigation system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto guarantee seamless integration, safe operation and mirrored functionality of mobile devices based on iOS or the Android operating system.
In terms of safety, the 2016 i10 now comes with two advanced features to actively avoid accidents, both based on the new multi-functional camera: a Front Collision Warning System (FCWS) and a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) (optional on most trims). Using front camera sensors, FCWS alerts the driver acoustically and visually about collision dangers arising from other vehicles. Lane Departure Warning alerts the driver if unsafe movements are made while the car is driving over 37mph. The LDWS sounds an alarm before the car moves over lane markings.
The refreshed Hyundai i10 will debut at the Paris Motor Show in early October 2016.
