First US-spec car registered in Cuba for 58 years is an Infiniti
Infiniti has shipped its new Q60 sports coupé to Cuba, making it the first US-spec car registered there since 1958.
The Q60’s arrival comes as Infiniti executive design director, Alfonso Albaisa, visited Havana to trace his roots back to his parents’ birthplace.
Now based in Japan, and overseeing all four Infiniti design studios across the world, Albaisa grew up in Miami. The trip was his first opportunity to visit Cuba and see the curves of the mid-century architecture, penned by his great-uncle and architect - Max Borges-Recio. Buildings designed by Borges Recio includes the Tropicana, Club Nautico, as well as his great-uncle's home.
The U.S.-spec Q60 made the hop across the Atlantic as tensions between the two countries continues to thaw, demonstrated recently by the reopening of the long-closed US embassy in Havana.
The Infiniti Q60 is on sale now with prices starting at £33,990 OTR.
