Camouflaged Jaguar XF Sportbrake takes to the roads
Jaguar has revealed its new XF Sportbrake - albeit in a tennis ball wrap.
It comes as part of Jaguar’s role as official car partner for The Championships at Wimbledon 2017, as the British brand gear up for the summer tournament.
And putting the new XF Sportbrake through its paces was former British tennis number one, Tim Henman who took a road trip in the new car to help one Scottish tennis fan answer a question from the world’s number one tennis player, Andy Murray.
When Susan MacCormick, from Edinburgh, tweeted Andy Murray suggesting the remote Bunabhainneadar Tennis Court on the Scottish island of North Harris feature on the ATP World Tour, she didn’t expect to get a reply. But the tennis ace and fellow Jaguar brand ambassador didn’t believe it to be true and responded by asking: ‘Is that even real?’
With Murray just weeks away from beginning the defence of his Wimbledon title, Jaguar decided to send Tim Henman to collect Susan in a specially camouflaged prototype XF Sportbrake, and head to the stunning location to prove its existence.
“The Bunabhainneadar Tennis Court looks unreal, so I can see why Andy doubted Susan’s original message. We’ve proven that it really does exist now and the road to the court was the perfect place to try out the new XF Sportbrake as it mixes amazing scenery with some challenging corners. I can’t wait to drive the car again – perhaps a bit closer to home” said Henman.
Henman even had time for a quick match with up-and-coming junior tennis player Logan Urquhart, 13, from Nairn, who was being put through his paces by coach Mike Martin at the Bunabhainneadar Court.
The XF Sportbrake estate, which debuts on 14 June, will join the XF sports saloon in the current Jaguar line-up. Its silhouette has already been sketched on the grass of Wimbledon's centre court at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, where the Grand Slam event will take place from Monday 3 July to Sunday 16 July.
