BMW 5 Series wins iF Design Award
A jury comprising 58 international design experts has selected the BMW 5 Series to receive the prestigious 'iF Gold Award 2017'.
The highest accolade bestowed by the International Forum Design was awarded in the category “Automobiles / Product” for the latest 5 Series' ‘innovative concept and dynamic, elegant design’. The jury emphasised, above all, the ‘clear precision of the sporty design, the brand-related recognisability of both interior and exterior as well as the balance between emotionality and visual presence’.
The “iF Design Award” is regarded as one of the world’s most significant design prizes and is acknowledged as a seal of quality for excellence in the field of design. A further four BMW Group vehicles also each received an “iF Award 2017” in the category “Mobility / Professional Concept”.
The MINI Vision Next 100 concept was awarded thanks to its core ethos to create a ‘resource-friendly’ form of individual mobility. The slogan “Every MINI is my MINI” refers to its futuristic interpretation of car sharing.
The Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100 also received an iF Award for its look towards the demands and desires of the wealthy connoisseur of the future. Rolls-Royce proposed a fully autonomous, coachbuilt, personalised vision, hand-built from the most advanced materials and powered by a zero emissions powertrain.
The BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 was also awarded for using the possibilities available in the digital world to raise the driving experience on a motorcycle to a new level - without a helmet or any other protective clothing the rider perceives centrifugal forces, acceleration, wind and nature.
Finally the BMW Concept X2 received an iF Award for its combining of coupe styling with the body of BMW X models, developing a novelty in the compact segment according to the German brand. With large wheels and a two-box design underscoring the functional X model character, the vehicle body has a sporty, flat look, its silhouette appearing significantly more streamlined.
